The 1,600 acre association boasts 27 holes of picturesque northern Michigan golf, nine Har-tru clay tennis courts, four pickleball courts, multiple dining facilities, fitness center and an array of social activities. An abundance of trails for hiking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing offer four seasons of recreational bliss throughout the Birchwood campus.

Racquet Sports

The Birchwood Tennis Program, offering nine Har-Tru Clay courts, will meet all your individual and family tennis needs. Adult-group, private instruction and daily organized play is available. Birchwood's junior program offers opportunities for players of all levels to receive quality instruction. Private, Semi-Private and small group clinics are available by appointment with our highly experienced Racquet Sports Professionals. The adult program features a blend of tournaments, mixers and social events, with all Members and guests welcome.

Birchwood also offers a very active Pickleball Program, that includes open play, clinics and leagues, on four dedicated Pickleball courts. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports across the nation, and is a wonderful family sport that grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren can all enjoy together. Multiple dedicated bocce lanes finish out the Racquet Sports offerings.

Dining

In Birchwood’s Grill Room, you can watch white-tailed deer cross the golf course, while you dine near the warmth of the 40-foot fieldstone fireplace. On any given night, you will enjoy some of northern Michigan’s finest cuisine with new friends, old friends, and close neighbors. The Casual Bar offers everything you look for in northern Michigan ambiance. Take pleasure in watching your favorite sporting event on one of several high-definition televisions, while sipping from a frosty pint of one of the various draft beer selections offered. You can also enjoy our seasonal pub-style menus in the beautiful bar or on the deck overlooking the 9th hole of the Farms Course.

In addition, our Main Dining Room provides a beautiful setting and picturesque views for your special event; ideal for weddings, receptions, birthdays, anniversaries, or other private parties. Outdoor, Heated Swimming Pool

Experience the comfort of our outdoor, heated swimming pools, designed to meet the needs of all ages. Enjoy lap swimming, water aerobics and volleyball. Our zero-entry, kiddie pool is offered for the fun and enjoyment of our younger members and guests, complete with water jets for added entertainment. Swimming lessons are available throughout the summer season. If swimming is not your style, enjoy the sun on our spacious pool decks with a variety of lounge furniture. For your refreshment and food enjoyment, our Three-Way House is located at the north end of the pool and our locker rooms are easily accessible with showers and vanities.

The winter season offers many fun snowshoeing opportunities and access to seven miles of groomed cross country ski trails.

Clubs within the Club

Birchwood offers so many Clubs within the Club - a personal way for fellow Members to share in hobbies, interests, and commonalities. Whether its Bridge, Mahjongg, Poker, Book Club, or Stitch 'n Sip - there's a group to join!

Fitness Center & Exercise Classes

Birchwood’s Fitness Center offers high quality equipment, including cardio and strength training machines. All strength training machines are individual stations, and along with a variety of free weights, offer complete circuit and strength training workouts. Full service men’s and women’s locker rooms are located nearby for post workout convenience. The Fitness Center is open daily from 6:00am - 10:00pm, year round.

Hiking Trails & Fishing Ponds

Enjoy walking, hiking and biking in the unparalleled beauty of northern Michigan on Birchwood’s well maintained trails. The winter season offers many fun snowshoeing opportunities and access to seven miles of groomed cross country ski trails. Birchwood also offers two fully stocked, catch and release fishing ponds for Member and guest use.
